A Fire in His Heart
Who: Eugene Duplessis
What: Pyrography
Where: Maitland, Australia
Web: http://www.eugeneduplessis.com/index.html
Why: Born in South Africa and raised a vegetarian, Eugene has been a vegan for over 8 years and an animal admirer all his life. He's also a world traveler, animal-rights advocate and truly talented artist in the practice of Pyrography (the art of burning images into wood). His carefully rendered images of African wildlife grace wooden "canvases" up to 4 feet across, giving them the majestic reverence that they deserve. A percentage of his sales is donated to animal rights groups and animal wildlife foundations as well. It warms my soul to see artists using their talent to make a difference and sincerely give back in such a beautiful way!
