Serenity in Celadon
Who: Mary Dorsch Pottery
What: Hand-built and Wheel-thrown Stoneware using Handmade Glazes
Where: San Jose, CA
Web: http://www.etsy.com/shop/maryeverett (currently sold out, but you can view previous sales)
Why: As an eco-respecting ceramicist Mary does everything right...she's an officially Certified Green Business, minimizing energy by maximizing material reuse, recycling, using wind power and even smashing and donating her misfires to local mosaic artists. So great. She's an uber-conscious artist, but what about the art? I say it's aesthetically appealing and serenely satisfying. Her quirky tea sets and neti pots are graceful and amusing, her Asian-esque bowls and vessels very pleasing. And a train of those turtles would make anyone smile!
