Color-Me-Happy
Who: Peter Max
What: Fine and commercial art
Where: NYC
Web: http://www.petermax.com/
Why: When I was about 6 years old I won a paint-by-number kit of the Beatles' "Yellow Submarine" and ever since I've been fascinated by that vibrant hyper-colorful psychedelic style of art. Peter Max did not work on the Submarine film, but he is said to have influenced its artists as well as a whole movement reflecting the passionate creativity of the era. A long-time vegan he often designs for eco-revering organizations and has been known to rescue a cow or two in his time. His work cheers me up like a fruity popsicle on a hot July day...color me happy!
